Brander Photography Wedding Photography Examples

Choosing a photographer for your wedding is an important step in the planning process.  Most couples ask themselves three questions: “Do we like the photographer’s personality?”  “Is the photographer in our budget?”  And, most importantly, “Does the photographer take GREAT pictures?”

This page was created to answer the third question.  Below are examples from three wedding I had the privilege to photograph.  I feel it is important for you to see my work from beginning to end so each gallery takes you through the course of the day with 40-50 images.

Virginia and Dennis were married on September 5, 2009 at Historic Charlton Park in Hastings, MI.   All of the bridesmaids met at a nearby family member’s home to do their hair and makeup.  Then we drove a couple of miles to Charlton Park to finish getting ready and take wedding party pictures.

The park provided a stunning backdrop – from the steps of the church to the river and historic buildings.  The weather was great, although a bit too sunny.  So we found some shade and got fantastic shots.  We finished in plenty of time for the wedding party to relax (just how I like it) while I took pictures of the guests arriving.

Virginia and Dennis exchanged vows beneath a beautiful, old maple tree.  After the ceremony, guests walked over to the Walnut Grove for a country style picnic reception.  Entertainment was provided by Schlitz Creek Bluegrass Band, and the party lasted well into the night.

Ashley and James were married on October 10, 2009 in Royal Oak, MI.  I met Ashley at Mijo-a Beauty Studio to begin the day with hair and makeup.  From there I chronicled breakfast at What Crepe with the bride, her mother, and the bridesmaids before we headed to the church.

Ashley and James followed the tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony.  So the girls and guys were photographed separately.  The ceremony was beautiful.  Church regulations restricted my movements, but I am always happy to follow the rules – I’ll still get amazing shots!

After signing the marriage license and mingling with family, we took more pictures inside and on the church grounds.  A party bus limousine took the group to The Best Western Sterling Inn for the reception where a gorgeous cake, great food, and fun music were waiting.

Andrea and Andre were married on September 19, 2009 in Joliet, IL.  While their ceremony followed the traditional Catholic Mass, they chose to break with a few other popular customs.  The couple met in private and took a few pictures before greeting guests as they arrived for the ceremony.  Although several friends had special parts to play throughout the day, no one was asked to stand up with the couple during the ceremony; there was no actual wedding party.  Talented family and friends helped to create a unique and personalized Mass.

After the ceremony, we drove to Bird Haven Greenhouse in Pilcher Park where I was able to spend some time with the bride and groom and their families before the party started.  Toasts by both fathers led to tears and laughter.  Then, Andrea and Andre opened the floor with a beautifully choreographed dance.  The DJ kept the dance floor packed, giving me plenty of opportunities to photograph the crowd.
